This is the age of hardwood! In new home construction more hardwood flooring is being used than ever before. Real Estate Agents report that a growing percentage of their clients who are seeking to buy homes list hardwood floors as a critical element in their purchase. At the same time, many mature homes, built prior to about 1965, have hardwood floors that have been covered over with carpet or vinyl flooring. Every day we are contacted to ask what can be done with these old and often in poor condition floors.
At Gustafson Floor Source, we restore more hardwood floors than any other organization in Central Michigan. Hardwood floors, with few exceptions, can be restored even when they have been painted, are discolored from animal or water stains, even when some of the individual boards are damaged beyond repair. Our skilled technicians can take even the most damaged floors and restore them to their original condition. Our restoration services include:
WATER DAMAGED FLOORS
Gustafson Floor Source is the choice of several Insurance Companies when faced with water damaged hardwood flooring. Generally, your Home Owners Insurance will cover the cost of repairing or replacing your hardwood flooring when it is damaged by broken pipes, appliances or other forms of water. We provide “Free Evaluations and Estimates” that are required by your Insurance Company and we will advise you as to the options that are available. In addition, we work direct with your Adjuster to answer questions and to help you secure a positive decision for full restoration.
We have found that even though water damage may be contained to a relatively small area such as the kitchen near a refrigerator or dishwasher, full restoration will involve at least a recoating (1 coat of finish) of the entire floor and could involve refinishing or even replacing the entire floor. In these situations we work with your Adjuster to demonstrate just what is required and the reasons why. The most common problem is that of matching a finish, but there are times when a particular type of hardwood flooring simply can not be obtained. If you suffer water damage to your floor, give us a call and we can help you through the process to get your floors fully restored to their original condition.
